Hillsboro, city, seat (1850) of Washington county, northwestern Oregon, U.S., adjacent to the Tualatin River. Settled in 1841, it was laid out by David Hill in 1842, called Columbia, and later renamed (by court order) for its founder. The city developed as a processing-shipping centre for wheat, truck-garden produce, and dairy products.
